4 of Wands

The Four of Wands is adorned with a wedding bouquet, emblematic of a mastered passion and its initial achievements. Four wands cross each other in pairs. Their receptive branches interlock at the center, where their union creates new activity. The square at the heart of the card is animated by the red of passion, while the light blue of the spirit manifests at their intersections. In addition to the colors of the wands from previous cards, the bright white of purity is present, symbolizing an alliance grounded in stability. Two daffodils bloom at the north and south ends of the card. The feminine branch, at the top, bears a solar disc, while its masculine counterpart displays a crescent moon as a ring. Their petals exude blood and gold, symbols of vibrant and intelligent humanity. The primitive masks from the Two of Wands have transformed into a pair of canines: possibly foxes or wolves. The lateral branches maintain their openness with a new nuance: the receptive corollas have now burst in the middle, under the pressure of the red stems. There is no doubt, the center of gravity is at the heart of the card. Sober and reverent, the Arnolfini spouses solemnly consecrate the recent exchange of their vows... unless their love, immortalized by the painter, simply preceded the official marriage. According to "The Arnolfini Portrait," Jan van Eyck (1390 - 1441)
