Page of Wands

The Page of Wands stands upright, gazing at the horizon. In him, passion is still in gestation but on the brink of manifesting into creative action. His clothing is elegant, reflecting a naturalistic and primarily receptive intelligence. The imminent action is signaled by the yellow and light green, while the sky-blue indicates the embryonic activity of his mind. If the inside of his robe mirrors an azure earth, he is preparing for a journey or a crossing... perhaps in the Mediterranean or the Caribbean. His crossed hands manipulate a staff with its head pointing towards the ground. Is he playing a game of heads or tails, or is he infusing it with telluric energies to energize his action? In any case, his alert posture suggests an impending resolution. The outcome of his first step will depend on the maturity of his drive: creative seeding, milestones of a high-potential personal work... or the beginnings of quarrels and conflicts driven by the brutality of his ego. Borrowing from the figure of Tristan, a companion of Lancelot who could be his alter-ego, the young knight must choose between his passion for Iseult the Fair and his loyalty to King Mark of Cornwall, his uncle, to whom the Beautiful is promised. This later extension of the Iliad is emblematic of the Page of Wands’ passionate duality: to follow one's desires or to serve a cause... or perhaps both at the same time? Based on "Tristan and Isolde with the Potion" by John William Waterhouse (1849 - 1917)

Between audacity and diplomacy, or playful banter and cowardice, he may demonstrate fearless genius and deploy treasures of skill... or, conversely, he may multiply blunders and suffer from excessive timidity. In its positive form, the Page of Wands symbolizes a promising creative beginning, an artistic project, or a burgeoning passion. It can also indicate a period of growth in understanding our inner strength. In this case, it urges us to express our talents and make informed choices.
