Its geometric (de)composition in concentric circles is primarily based on multiples of 4. The sequence 4, 8, 12, and 16 stands out notably. The 4 represents stability, the 8 represents perfection, the 12 represents wisdom, and the 16 represents humility. At the heart of the golden pentacle, a lotus flower perfectly symbolizes these four virtues. Its vivid red bud signifies our active animality, which the Ace of Pentacles embodies more than any other card. The lotus is both a symbol of awakening and purification. This sacred flower represents the culmination of a complete cycle of transformation. In winter, its underwater rhizomes hibernate in the mud, from which they draw their vitality. This putrid mass is, paradoxically, the source of its vigor. The Nelumbo Nucifera is thus a perfect oxymoron, as its beauty arises from the decomposition of dead plants and animals. The ends of the plant stems, both above and below, draw hearts that, like the number 8, form an infinite loop. The Ace of Pentacles then speaks to us of impermanence and eternal renewal. The hand at the center of the card seems to present the Ace of Pentacles as a gift... or a pledge of eternity.
