4 of Pentacles

The work in progress in the Three of Pentacles manifests as a solid, secure, and stable result in the Four. The pentacles-gears have transformed into carriage wheels. The machine has evolved into a robust vehicle with a floral chassis as its base. At the center, the floor houses a single-cylinder engine in the shape of a shield. The phoenix represents the self-regenerating principle of internal combustion technology. At the poles, as suspensions, two plant stems extend triumphantly. They resemble two extraterrestrials, one male and the other female, savoring their victory. All around, an octopus extends its tentacles towards the pentacles. The cephalopod’s embrace is both sensual and possessive. Is it grasping the pentacles to practice sharing or exchange... or to hoard them? With its lascivious and voracious presence, the marine creature contrasts sharply with the mythical bird. Together, they represent the four fundamental elements: earth and water for the octopus, air and fire for the bird. Their natures complement each other but are also in competition. The eagle, with its fiery feathers, has the symbolic advantage over the eight-armed creature. Its message is clear: beware of falling for the illusions of materialism, for nothing here is permanent!

Four of Pentacles represents material stability and the securing of assets. This card reflects our need to preserve what we have, maintain control over our possessions, and ensure a sense of material security. The Four of Pentacles invites us to evaluate our relationship with money, ownership, and accumulation. It reminds us that everything has a price and that excess in the pursuit of material security, as well as the fear of lacking, typically leads to greed and avarice. In its most positive aspect, the Four of Pentacles highlights the importance of prudence and caution, wise management of our resources, and the achievement of our material ambitions. It is the guardian of our wealth and encourages us to build solid foundations for our future. In its excessive form, the Four of Pentacles may signal possessiveness, a visceral fear of lack, or resistance to changes in circumstances. It warns against the risk of becoming overly attached to material things at the expense of our relationships and emotional well-being. It may also draw attention to relationships with materialistic or security-focused motivations. In the context of a reading, the Four of Pentacles can indicate a period where material security is a key issue. It may be associated with the management of our finances, investments, or patrimonial concerns. This card encourages us to balance our financial concerns with our emotional and relational needs to create overall stability in our lives.
