The Magician

In geometry, the point is the element from which all shapes are constructed. It is somewhat like the cosmos in synthesis. The Magician (also known as "The Juggler") is this starting point: the origin of the journey that the tarot invites us to embark upon. And since everything begins with him, he carries the vibration of a child marveling at the ability to transform desires into realities. In his hands and on his table, he holds all the resources the universe places at his disposal. They symbolize the tarot's suits: coins, wands, swords, and cups. All he needs to do is combine them according to the magical sequence that will lead him to full awareness of his quadruple nature (physical, emotional, creative, and intellectual)... to fulfill his destiny. The sun-coin he holds in his right hand is the center of gravity of the card. Around him, everything is in weightlessness. This piece of gold thus signifies that, despite daydreams, the Magician has his feet firmly on the ground. A master illusionist, he is also the first promoter of the principle of reality: "Raise the curtain!" - Based on "The Magician," Narcisse Diaz de la Peña (1807 - 1876)

The Magician is the very embodiment of primal creative impulse. Yet, his innocence is both his genius... and his Achilles' heel. Indeed, he easily confuses "creative intention" with "magical thinking" and "alluring illusions." When this card appears, it reminds us that we are the primary creators of our reality. This reality shapes our daily lives according to our sensations, experiences, and thoughts. Some see it as the objective result of measurable causes and effects. Others perceive it as the relativity of our own illusions. To address this, the Magician invites us to reconsider our potential in order to become the authors of our reality. He calls us to rediscover our childlike spirit and to create. After all, is there a better way to learn than through play? In any case, he heralds a re-start, a new beginning, and the realm of "Anything is possible." His mantra: "Play and have fun... with soul and awareness."
