The Minor Arcana illustrate the concrete and everyday situations of our lives. They are divided into four suits of 14 cards each.
Each suit governs a domain of existence: Swords reign over the intellect, Cups over emotions, Pentacles over matter and Wands over creative action. Each suit runs from Ace to Ten, then Page, Queen, King and Knight.
The material world, money, work, health and resources. Coins anchor us in reality.
Emotions, intuition, love, relationships and the inner world. Cups hold our feelings.
Creativity, passion, ambition, action and vital impulse. Wands carry enthusiasm.
Intellect, reason, analytical thinking and decisions. Swords cut truth from falsehood.
From Ace to Ten, each numbered card represents an energetic stage. The court cards (Page, Queen, King, Knight) embody characters or aspects of the personality.
The seed, pure potential, the absolute beginning of the suit.
The stages of energetic development, from the duo to accomplishment.
The messenger, the apprentice, the young and emerging energy of the suit.
Receptivity, maturation and the intuitive intelligence of the suit.
Mastery, authority and the accomplished expression of the suit.
Action, movement, energy in motion and the quest.
